<p>In <a href="Vector_calculus" title="Vector calculus">vector calculus</a>, a <b>vector potential</b> is a <a href="Vector_field" title="Vector field">vector field</a> whose <a href="Curl_(mathematics)" title="Curl (mathematics)">curl</a> is a given vector field. This is analogous to a <i><a href="Scalar_potential" title="Scalar potential">scalar potential</a></i>, which is a scalar field whose <a href="Gradient" title="Gradient">gradient</a> is a given vector field.
